3Dokuteam uses four manufacturing processes: FDM, SLA, SLS and DMLS. This enables the company to provide prototypes, jigs, spare parts, individual components and small-batch production all from a single source. Which process is the most cost-effective depends on the component geometry, quantity and load requirements, and is assessed in advance during an expert review.
For the FDM process: ABS, ASA, PA-CF, ULTEM and PEEK, amongst others. For the SLA process: resins such as Flexible, Elastic, Tough and High Temp. For the SLS process: PA12 and TPE; other materials available on request.
In the FDM process, the maximum build volume is 1000 x 1000 x 800 mm — this allows large components to be produced in a single piece without having to segment them. In the SLA process, a build volume of 350 x 196 x 350 mm is available, whilst the other processes offer a build volume of around 250 x 250 x 250 mm. Larger geometries are produced in sections and then joined together.
Depending on the process, component size and geometry, the achievable tolerance is approximately 0.1 to 0.3 mm. Dimensions-critical features are assessed in advance during the expert review, so that it is clear before production begins whether the required tolerances can be achieved using additive manufacturing.
There are two options. If you have a finished CAD file, 3Dokuteam’s print-on-demand shop will provide an instant online quote. If it is unclear whether the design is feasible, an expert will review the file on the same day and send you a quote along with feedback on whether it can be produced.
As part of the expert review, a technician from 3Dokuteam checks the feasibility, choice of materials, processes, stability and cost-effective manufacturing options for the uploaded component prior to production. The review is carried out manually, not automatically.
STEP (.stp) or STL (.stl) files up to 100 MB. Files can be submitted via the upload form, by email to 3Dprint@dokuteam.de, or via a file-sharing platform.
A price example using the FDM process with the industrial-grade material ASA: For orders of a single unit, the minimum price is 11 euros per component; for orders of 500 units or more, the unit price falls to around 2.50 euros. All prices are net, excluding VAT. The exact price depends on the geometry, material, component size, post-processing and quantity. Once a CAD file has been uploaded, the instant price configurator displays the full price scale for individual parts and quantities. Individual terms and conditions also apply to series production and framework agreements.
Additive manufacturing is cost-effective where no tooling costs are required: for individual parts, prototypes, spare parts, jigs and small production runs. As production volumes increase and geometries become simpler, the advantage shifts towards injection moulding. 3Dokuteam assesses the threshold on a case-by-case basis during its expert review and, where necessary, also uses conventional manufacturing methods.
Quality assurance is carried out in accordance with in-house processes. Every component produced is inspected individually; the inspection rate is 100 per cent. The complaint rate is less than 1 per cent of the components produced.
Yes. 3Dokuteam generally undertakes to maintain the confidentiality of any data provided and will confirm this in writing upon request. A confidentiality agreement provided by the client may also serve as a basis.
Yes. Using the 3D scanning service, the existing part is optically measured, converted into a CAD model via reverse engineering, and then manufactured. This ‘scan-to-part’ process is particularly suitable for spare parts for which no technical drawings are available.
Production takes place at the Nottuln site in North Rhine-Westphalia. There are further sites in Deggendorf and a service point in Vaterstetten, near Munich.
Every enquiry is reviewed by a member of staff rather than by an automated system. The Instant Quote Shop is available for standardised repeat orders, whilst expert advice is provided for components where feasibility or material selection are still to be determined. Both options can be combined.
